Vidyala's Fashionable Paladin contest is finished! And I have to say, the entries were amazing. Congrats to winners Gale, Kirina and Kamalia! Everyone should go check out the entries and thoughts behind the outfits!
Now, as previously mentioned I also entered the contest. I was quite pleased with my entry...it's very me. Rhii was disappointed I went with Alliance paladins instead of Horde...but I get the feeling her opinion will change after reading this.
Am I disappointed I didn't win? Well of course, who wouldn't want some of Vid's amazing art! But I can't say I ever really EXPECTED to win. My goal was to supply a few certain...elements to the contest that I anticipated would probably otherwise be absent. A few elements that I half expected to get my entry disqualified, haha.
Presenting! Rades' "Fashionable Paladin" entry! (click for full-size version)
Bwahaha! After all, the best paladin is a DEAD paladin! And THE WRATHGATE AND PUTRESS ARE AWESOME.
...what? I have to be me. :D
It was actually a ton of fun to examine the Wrathgate cinematic piece-by-piece and try to make out all the equipment that you only see for a moment. I watched it probably two dozen times, but since I love it, I enjoyed every viewing! Haha.
I am pretty sure I nailed everything except the tabard worn by the Wrathgate paladins (does this not exist as a player option?) and Bolvar's belt...I went through EVERY SINGLE BELT and couldn't find it. >< Here's some comparison shots:
Bolvar has some kind of commander or lieutenant close by at a few points in the cinematic, who is sporting mostly the same equipment but has a Grand Marshal's Scaled Helm and Grand Marshal's Punisher instead. She is a Draenei in my entry shot because it was Vid's contest and there were no Draenei in the cinematic! D: Besides, what kind of Paladin contest would it be without every possible (Alliance) paladin race?
The foot soldiers had the most mismatched gear, and until I actually went through the movie bit by bit, I didn't realize they had such PLAIN gear. I mean, Dull Heater Shields? Overlinked Chain Armor? Hey Tirion - maybe if you spent a little more money on your troops and less on Elixirs of Giant Growth and BUILDING GIANT GOLDEN STATUES OF YOURSELF, your forces would have more success.
In my opinion, with such shoddy equipment Putress was just saving them an ignoble, terrible death at Arthas' hands. ;)
