Minipost: Rades' classy new look

Without question, my favorite look for Rades has always been Hunter Tier 10, ever since earning it in Icecrown Citadel. There's a few reasons for this - I think the color and design, especially when combined with the Stone Guard's Herald tabard, epitomizes the Horde look. It was also the first tier set I earned as a member of an actual raiding guild, so there's some sentimental attachment. And finally, the helm has a GIANT NERUBIAN HORN. How do you not love that??

Even in Cataclysm, I kept wearing the old set, before Transmog was implemented. How? Well, whenever I was hanging around Org, out doing lowbie zones for Loremaster, or basically doing anything except level 85 endgame, I'd throw it on. This made for some interesting seasonal boss fights where I'd forget I was wearing Wrath gear, and go in and wonder why I was doing such terrible DPS to Ahune or Direbrew.

However, one day I was randomly perusing the Mail options on the Auction House (something I do a lot) and happened across a nice-looking mail chestpiece. Intrigued, I bought it and put it aside, and decided to build a transmog set around it. It took a while to get the appropriate pieces, but this weekend I finished it, and Rades FINALLY has a new look.

I like it. It should be quite a contrast from most other players in PuG groups - no huge clunky armor and skulls, instead, just a simple, dignified look. I would have gone with no shoulders at all, but sadly this isn't an option, and these were the least obtrusive ones I could find.

I think my favorite is the eyepatch, though. It's hard to see in the image, but it actually has a little skull on it! Here's the battle.net page with a larger image.

Edit: Found a picture of Rades wearing the eyepatch:

I was going to just have no helm displayed, but then I happened across this unique MAIL eyepatch, and had to have it. It's a quest reward from a long quest line in Blade's Edge, where you work together with Baron Sablemane (actually the Black Dragon Sabellian in disguise) to fight the Gronn. Interestingly, Alliance players team up with Sablemane in the quest finale, while Horde players fight alongside Rexxar.

Here's my new outfit and what pieces were used. Most of the pieces can be found on the AH, though it will take some searching. The gun is a boss drop from Ulduar, but honestly any simple bow or rifle would fit the look fine. I'm actually tempted to just use a basic Light Bow appearance.

Ranged:
Malefactor's Eyepatch (Quest Reward, Horde/Alliance)
Netherstorm Shoulderguards or Talhide Shoulderguards (BoE)
Icy Cloak (Tailoring BoE), Warmonger's Cloak looks good too (black)
Netherstorm Chestpiece or Talhide Chestpiece (BoE)
Yellow Lumberjack Shirt (Tailoring)
Netherstorm Bracer or Talhide Lined-Bracers (BoE)
Netherstorm Gauntlets or Talhide Lined-Gloves (BoE)
Netherstorm Belt or Talhide Stitched-Belt (BoE)
Netherstorm Legguards or Talhide Lined-Leggings (BoE)
Netherstorm Greaves or Talhide Lined-Boots (BoE)
Rifle of the Platinum Guard (Ulduar, Ignis - but any simple gun/bow would work)

I like your new mog set!! I'm also a fan of the simple and understated gear in WoW.

Originally my Druid was going to be decked out in full T8, but then I found a nice mix of green quality gear which she is currently rocking (though she will always wear the t8 Sailormoon hat). Maybe I'll switch to T8 to mix things up someday, but right now I'm really enjoying her practical outfit. =D

    I like it!
It's one of those sets that looks like it belongs to another armor class.
Since you're a mail wearer, you might be interested in Bloodmail Legguards too: http://www.wowhead.com/item=14612. They look like Tux pants and can be mogged.

Like it. Another believer of "simple is better". My NELF hunter appears to be in all leather, with the bear head shoulders from Zul and one of the shaman beast masks.

It's a true beast master hunter look IMO. Now, if I could just dump the stupid pole arm and have a bow and quiver over my back...

    I hear that's coming, right?

@Nivella - Yeah! I saw your comment last time about the Leather eyepatch, and was like "aw Leather. :(" BUT THEN. Saw that there was a Mail version too. :)

Nicely done! I think the "pick a piece and build an outfit around it" approach is a good one. I built this look around the wrath entry-level shoulders model, and I'm pretty pleased with it.
