The worst guide ever to taming Skarr & Deth'tilac

Somehow, bizarrely, I have tamed two of the incredible new rare pets introduced in 4.2, Skarr (the metal cat) and Deth'tilac, the king of all hunter pets, with raid boss level health and a complicated taming process. Surprisingly, I wasn't camping for them. Actually, I wasn't even LOOKING for them. I present to you my taming experiences, shamefully inept stories of Hunterism. Enjoy. And maybe imagine Yakety Sax playing in your head as you read.

SKARR

1.Be out achievement hunting with Buglamp, with no thought at all about taming any of the new pets.
2.After getting Flawless Victory, turn on Detect Beasts on a whim.
2.Stare in shock as Skarr pops up on the radar, directly overhead.
4.Race up to Fireplume Peak to try to tame.
5.Die 2-3 times in the horrible incline of BLAZING FLAMING DEATH FIRE.
6.Die 2-3 times trying to hop across the Super Mario Brothers-style floating platforms.
7Reach Skarr. Realize you have no idea what tricks he may have. Shrug and attempt to tame anyway. Get immediately and brutally murdered (with Buglamp) by fireballs and Fieroclast Barrage.
8.Ghost run up. Fall off the floating platforms and ghost run up AGAIN.
9.Aggro a scorpion and slowly slow/trap/kite it to death while Buglamp impatiently screams at you to "JUST SUMMON A PET ALREADY!"
10.Get Bug to hang back out of range for resurrections, then attempt the usual taming tricks - Freezing Trap, Scatter Shot, Scare Beast, Deterrence/Feign Death to stop Fieroclast Barrage casts, etc. Sulk as nothing works, and die a few more times.
11.Lose patience. Say "SCREW IT" and just start taming without any strategy. FULLY RESIST FIEROCLAST BARRAGE and successfully tame Skarr.

DETH'TILAC  >8<

1.Log on to do Molten Front Dailies. Lament that everyone else in your guild has gone with the Shadow Wardens, meaning you have to do the Druids of the Talon dailies ALL ALONE. T_T
2.Heave sigh of disappointment when you see that the daily bombing quest isn't one of today's quests. Realize that the Firehawk used in the quest is sitting right there. Go on a bombing run for the hell of it, to work on Death From Above and to cackle with glee as you bomb the Alliance NPC raid party. ;)
3.On the flight over to the bombing zone, spot a very distinctive purple lava spider chilling off by itself on a ledge. Think to self, "Ooh, that's a pretty cool idea by Blizzard, having a special phased version of the new rare pets show up while on this flight! I approve! :D" Offhandedly tell guild about the cool "easter egg" you just found.
4.Realize a few minutes later that maybe you didn't just see a phased, untouchable Deth'tilac, but the REAL THING. /panic /flail
5.Cancel the bombing run and haul ass over to where you spotted Deth'tilac, enlisting two Hunter guildies to help (one of which was Buglamp, again).
6.Frantically browse current pets on the way, breathe deep sigh of relief when you see that one is a non-unique, non-rare spawn (aka, EXPENDABLE) pet that can be easily replaced. I AM SORRY, RED SNAKE. D:
7.Kite! Concuss! Ice Trap! Add insult to injury by sending previously-mentioned Snake in to be slaughtered by Deth'tilac's Deth Strike, resurrected, then sent in to take it again, over and over! (Deth'tilac can only be tamed when reduced to low health, and a successful Deth Strike lowers its health by 10% each time)
8.Reward your battered and bruised sacrificial pet by heartlessly abandoning it! D: (Worst master ever.) Then TAME THAT GIANT PURPLE BEAUTY!
9.Scream your excitement and giddiness on Twitter while you try (in vain) to calm your pounding heart.

On an unrelated note, this is just a reminder that I will be on the Twisted Nether Blogcast on Saturday! The show will be at 8PM PST. For those unfamiliar with how this works, there is a live audio interview hosted by Fimlys from Asleep at the WoW and Hydra from Almost Evil, with a live chat room for people to talk, ask questions, etc. Hope to see you there! :D

Gratz on your shiny new pets! Too bad Deth'tilac doesn't keep his special ability when he tames... I guess it would be too OP as a PvP pet :P
