Maelstroms are obtained by disenchanting 85 Epic-quality items, Red - the Cata equivalent of Abyss Crystals. They're a lot pricier than Abyss Crystals were though, because you can't get Epics from Heroics anymore, just from crafting or raid drops.
Well, hmm. That's hilarious! :) Some people just. don't. know. how the game works and that things like that can be made. Or, they're just filthy rich and just don't care.
Either way, congrats on making a nice little bundle of coins :)
I'm catching up on my blog roll now that I'm done with traveling for a bit... but I'm loving these posts on one of my favorite activities in the game: gold making!
