Minipost: My pre-raid consumable minigame

Now that raiding is once again well underway, I find myself revisiting one of my old habits - mailing myself extra potions and buff food for easy restocking before raid.

However, as you can see in the above screenshot, I tend to do it a little strangely. Instead of full stacks, I split them into random quantities and send them as batches of 5, of 7, of 11, etc.

Why? Well, I do this so I can easily "fill up" my supply to exactly the amount of consumables I want. Usually it's a single stack of potions or food, but if we're working on a particularly hard fight, or if I intend to pre-pot (which I did far more often as a DPS, but still) then I'll want to bring two stacks.

But if I have, say, 8 potions left from our last raid, and all I have are full 20x stacks in my mail, then what do I do? I end up with 28 potions. Or 48.

Now you might be asking "what the hell is the big deal?" but I don't think you understand what a precious commodity an empty bag slot is for me. Granted, things have improved slightly since Cata, when I'd have to destroy my hearthstone just to make room in my bags for the herbs and vials necessary to make flasks. That being said, I rarely have more than say, 7-8 free spaces open at once.

However, if I mail myself assorted, random amounts of consumables? I can pick the stacks I need to get myself to my desired total, without going over! For example, if I already had 8 potions, I could take 12 + 10 + 10 to end up with 2 stacks. Or if I had 3 left over, I could take 7 + 10 + 12 + 8 to make 2 stacks.

Is this necessary? Obviously not. But I have to admit, I like taking a few seconds to play this little minigame with myself, to see if I can work out the exact combination of mailed potions to grab, and to see if I planned properly and mailed myself a versatile variety of stacks, to end up with a perfect 20 or 40 sum.

Brilliant! I need to share this with Kurby, he's continually mailing himself stuff and having full bags! Though lately since we are both tanking this portion of the expansion, he just bums things off me!

The inventory management minigame is the best minigame :D Surely there is a more efficient way to do this than mailing yourself random amounts though; remember the puzzles where they ask you to cut a string of beads the fewest number of times that will still allow you to make a string of any number of beads?

I do the same thing, Rades. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one! :)
