Being surrounded with all the amazing artists on Twitter has started to have an effect on me! Last week I decided to start sketching again, something I haven't done in a few years. Surprisingly (or not) I figured I'd start with WoW drawings.
I actually don't like drawing Rades, but I really enjoy drawing Morgion - there's a lot of raw emotion in her design, with the ragged hair, the straps, the stitches, etc. I flail a LOT when it comes to her armor and weapons, but eh, it'll come.
When I sat down, pencil in hand, I realized I lacked any decent art paper, so I used what I had on hand - index cards, which I use for a variety of things. I actually really liked the small scale and size limitations - they feel almost like a mini comic panel, or something.
(I added some light Photoshop coloring to the first sketch, at top, before I decided to make a project out of this. The rest won't be colored at all.)
I'm actually making sure to do one sketch (at least) a day, whatever I can do on a single index card, different scenes, poses, whatever. I'm not sure how long I'll keep this up, but I'm enjoying the small commitment, and being "forced" to draw again!
I'm posting a new sketch each day on my Tumblr, http://blamerades.tumblr.com. Yeah, a second blog (kinda), but you're not missing much - it's just for random WoW pics or chat screenshots, that kind of thing. If you'd like to see the daily index card art, check the Tumblr!
