Non-Raid Transmog Weapons: One-Hand Swords

There's no shortage of awesome looking swords, but here's some you may not know about.

It's worth mentioning that a few swords are very popular because they sheathe on your back, crossed. I'm not going to go into full detail about these swords unless they're also nice unsheathed, but a few examples of this are the Ginn-Su Sword (BoE), Heavy Copper Longsword (Blacksmithing), and Phantom Blade (Blacksmithing).

Non-Raid One-Hand Swords

Rune Sword
Required Level: 46
Source: Bind-on-Equip

This sword looks plain, but it is actually one of the only easy-to-get swords with detailed etching on the blade. The other swords that use this model have plain blades. Easy to find on the AH, and it's likely you won't see many others using it.
Speedsteel Rapier
Required Level: 36
Source: Bind-on-Equip

There are a few rapier models, but this one has a special built-in animation! A small glowing white orb circles the blade. I'm not sure how it will look when transmogrified, however.
Blazing Rapier
Required Level: 51
Source: Blacksmithing

This rapier model has a built-in fiery glow. Not sure how it will look when transmogrified. Also, the pattern is no longer in the game, so it might be hard to find someone who can make it.
Dazzling Mithril Rapier
Required Level: 43
Source: Blacksmithing

There is also the slightly browner Adamantite Rapier available through Blacksmithing. Other rapier models: Defias Rapier & Tainted Pierce (BoEs), Electrocutioner Leg (Gnomeregan).
Assassin's Short Blade
Required Level: 66
Source: Bind-on-Equip

Other versions (slightly different colors) include Cursed Felblade (Ragefire Chasm), Darkwater Talwar (Blackfathom Deeps), Dragonmaw Shortsword (Bind-on-Equip), and Sword of Insurgence (Horde Quest).
Phantom Blade
Required Level: 44
Source: Blacksmithing

A very cool ethereal, translucent blade. There's a few swords that use this model, but this is probably the easiest to obtain.
Pilfered Ethereal Blade
Required Level: 67
Source: Quest

This and the Phantom Blade are the only one-handed (not Main-Hand) swords that use this model that you can really farm by yourself. Others exist, but are next-to-impossible to find or farm solo, being either ultra rare or from Heroic Zul'Gurub.
Dragon's Call
Required Level: 50
Source: Sunken Temple

This awesome, unique sword can be farmed from the final boss in Sunken Temple. It has a HORRIBLE drop rate - a measly 4% - but in my opinion is one of the best looking swords in the game.
Avool's Sword of Jin
Required Level: 80
Source: Bind-on-Equip

Weird-looking, but unique. BoE so you may be able to find it on the AH every now and then.
Savage Cobalt Slicer
Required Level: 74
Source: Blacksmithing

There's a ton of swords that use this enormous model, but getting one crafted is probably the easiest way to get your hands on one. Quest options: Blade of Diligence, Blade of Echoes, Blade of the Inception, Taigasha. Bind-on-Equips: Blackened Blade, Skeleton's Sword, Tribal Blade, Trollish Slicer, Tundra's Edge.
Ebon Hilt of Marduk
Required Level: 40
Source: Scholomance

Interesting short-blade design. 28% drop rate. Can also get a silver model, Blade of Wretched Spirits, from a Quest in Winterspring.
Blade of the Empty Void
Required Level: 77
Source: Quest (Horde, Alliance)

This model is also used for Fang of Truth (Bought from Wyrmrest Accord, requires Honored reputation), Lydia's Sharpened Swordbreaker (BoE, has a fiery animation), Meathook's Slicer (Culling of Strathholme) and Ymiron's Blade (Utgarde Pinnacle).
Corpseweed Sickle
Required Level: 22
Source: Quest

This low-level sword has a very sweet unique model. Some NPCs use it, but this is the only option available to players. It is Alliance-only.
Crystalline Kopesh
Required Level: 66
Source: Quest (Horde, Alliance)

Bright pink with a built-in glow. Also available as a green-quality Bind-on-Equip, Skettis Curved Blade, which is slightly more rosy-colored and does not have the glow.
Dark Iron Reaver
Required Level: 60
Source: Blacksmithing

This unorthodox sword requires some awful materials to craft, but makes up for it by having a completely unique model.
Edge of the Cosmos
Required Level: 70
Source: The Mechanar (Normal or Heroic)

14% drop rate on both Normal and Heroic.
Felsteel Longblade
Required Level: 70
Source: Blacksmithing

Very expensive mats, kind of a plain model, but a very attractive color. It also sheathes to the back. Finding someone who can make it might be difficult.
Ghoulslicer
Required Level: 80
Source: Halls of Reflection

Huge sword model, unique. Falric is the first boss, so it should be fairly easy to farm. 27% drop rate.
Honor's Call
Required Level: 70
Source: Vendor (Alliance)

Alliance-only, requires Exalted with Honor Hold. Base price 201g 15s 8c.
Illidari-Bane Broadsword
Required Level: 67
Source: Quest

Nice purple crystal model. Its twin, Shaarde the Lesser, can also be farmed from Auchenai Crypts at a 17% drop rate.
Sang'thraze the Deflector
Required Level: 44
Source: Zul'Farrak

22% drop rate. Shares a model with Jang'thraze the Protector, a Main-Hand sword. In the picture, Sang'thraze is in her right hand, Jang'thraze in her left.
Legacy of Teronis
Required Level: 19
Source: Quest (Alliance)

This Alliance-only sword is is very nicely detailed, and elegant. Shares a model with some swords out of the Onyxia raid.
Peacekeeper Blade
Required Level: 80
Source: Heroic Trial of the Champion

It's almost impossible to solo Heroic ToC (because of the jousting) but I still had to include this sword because it is SO AWESOME. You can do it with 2-3 people without trouble. There's also some Main-Hand versions listed below.
Revenger
Required Level: 70
Source: The Botanica (Normal and Heroic)

Completely weird looking purple sword, but that might be exactly what you're after. There is a blueish version, Crystalblade of the Draenei, that is Bind-on-Equip. Both are pictured.
Revilgaz's Cutlass
Required Level: 31
Source: Quest

This classic pirate sword is simple but nice, and it's also unique!
Rimefang's Claw
Required Level: 80
Source: Heroic Pit of Saron

Very cool unique model. Drops from the last boss at a 27% drop rate.
Soul Blade
Required Level: 85
Source: Bind-on-Equip

Unique model. This sword is a BoE from Bastion of Twilight, and is both semi-rare and still semi-expensive. It is steadily decreasing in price on the AH, though, and will only continue to get cheaper when 4.3 hits. (It will also be rarer though, since less people will be doing Bastion of Twilight.)
The Butcher
Required Level: 26
Source: Bind-on-Equip

This massive blade is fairly common on the AH, so it shouldn't be too hard to get. It is also a unique model.
The Sun Eater
Required Level: 70
Source: Heroic Mechanar

Besides having maybe the coolest name ever, the blade on this hefty, unique sword also ripples as if energy were constantly flowing up from the handle.
Vindicator's Brand
Required Level: 70
Source: Vendor

Requires Exalted with the Aldor, base price of 207g 27s 20c. Shares a model with a Main-Hand sword, Mana Wrath, which is listed below.
Warp-Storm Warblade
Required Level: 70
Source: Heroic Mana-Tombs

The crystal fragments near the base of the blade rotate constantly, as does the crystal at the end of the blade. Unique model.
Latro's Dancing Blade
Required Level: 70
Source: Magister's Terrace

This very distinctive, ENORMOUS sword is one of the biggest one-hand swords in the game. It has a 16% drop rate. Has a twin, Latro's Shifting Sword, which drops from The Black Morass (Normal and Heroic) at a 15% drop rate. Also, an expensive/rare BoE, Blinkstrike.
Quickening Blade of the Prince
Required Level: 70
Source: Heroic Magister's Terrace

This large sword has a very distinctive blade, and drops from Kael'thas at a 25% drop rate. Has a twin, Millennium Blade, which drops from The Black Morass (Normal and Heroic) at a 16% drop rate.

Non-Raid Main-Hand Swords

Since Mages and Warlocks can use swords, there are some very interesting Main-Hand options for a dual-wielder looking to mismatch weapons, or for tanks who want something different.

Vibro Sword
Required Level: 65
Source: Quest (Alliance)

Ethereum Phase Blade
Required Level: 66
Source: Vendor

Easiest weapon to get, ever. Pick it up at the Stormspire in Netherstorm, base price 35g 97s 62c.
Continuum Blade
Required Level: 70
Source: Vendor

Has a built-in purplish glow. Requires Revered with Keepers of Time, base price 44g 23s 44c.
Blade of the Archmage
Required Level: 70
Source: Vendor (Alliance)

Requires Exalted with Honor Hold. Base price is a whopping 214g 9s 63c.
Spellfire Longsword
Required Level: 62
Source: Slave Pens

The picture is much crappier than the actual sword. One of the only one-hand "lightsaber" swords still available in the game, and the other (Blade of Wizardry, below) is ultra rare. This sword has no blade, just a glowing beam of blue light.
Blade of Wizardry
Required Level: 70
Source: Bind-on-Equip

This lightsaber-style sword is SUPER RARE...but occasionally it will show up on the AH for an extremely low price because the seller doesn't know what it's worth. I bought one for 500g recently. It normally sells for 35,000 or so. So, keep your eye open!
Blade of the Keening Banshee
Required Level: 80
Source: Vendor (Horde)

Horde-only, unique. An incredible design. Available from the Argent Tournament city vendors, costs 25 Champion's Seals.
Gnomeregan Bonechopper
Required Level: 80
Source: Vendor (Alliance)

Main-Hand version of the Peacekeeper Blade. Alliance-only. Available from the Argent Tournament city vendors, costs 25 Champion's Seals. Gnomeregan Mindslicer is a blue recolor available from an Alliance Vashj'ir Quest.
Greatsword of Horrid Dreams
Required Level: 70
Source: Shadow Labyrinth (Normal and Heroic)

This sword is HUGE, and very sinister looking. There is actually a two-hand sword out there with the same model that is the same size. 14% drop rate on both Normal and Heroic.
Maldo's Sword Cane
Required Level: 85
Source: Bind-on-Equip

Pretty interesting BoE sword that drops in Blackwing Descent. Fairly rare/expensive, but on the AH fairly often. Value (and availability) will decrease as time goes on and it becomes obsolete.
Mana Wrath
Required Level: 70
Source: The Mechanar (Normal and Heroic)

Shares a model with Vindicator's Brand. 15% drop rate on both Normal and Heroic.
Mind Carver
Required Level: 40
Source: Dire Maul West

20% drop rate, shares a model with some One-Hand swords listed earlier.
Seethe
Required Level: 80
Source: Heroic Forge of Souls

A spectacular sword model. It's a caster sword, but it would look great being swung around in melee. Has a 22% drop rate.
Splintered Icecrown Parapet
Required Level: 80
Source: Halls of Reflection

Very detailed sword. 28% drop rate. It shares a model (and would go perfectly with) the offhand sword Grasscutter, which is purchasable in Dalaran for 550 Justice Points.
Summoner's Blade
Required Level: 68
Source: Quest (Aldor, Scryers)

This blood red/silver look of this sword is quickly becoming very rare, as most of the swords that used to use this design are no longer obtainable.
The Willbreaker
Required Level: 70
Source: Heroic Blood Furnace

This unique sword has a 16% drop rate.
