Minipost: Cairne's funeral pyre

The other day someone in guild mentioned Cairne, and I offhandedly commented about how cool it was to see him be laid to rest in this year's Orphan's Week events. The guildie I was talking to had no idea what I was talking about, since he hadn't done the quest. Like most people, he didn't realize the quests had changed this year to be more in-tune with the rest of the game world, something I am HIGHLY in favor of.

I figured there's probably a lot of people who didn't know that about this touching scene, so here it is!

I took my orphan out to Mulgore, where Baine Bloodhoof, Kador Cloudsong and Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem were gathered next to Cairne's body. There was also an unnamed Ancestral Spirit hanging out at the back.

Baine Bloodhoof says: Elders of Thunder Bluff, I have called you together in the sight of the ancestors to honor my father, Cairne Bloodhoof.

Baine Bloodhoof says: Father, you were a man who led wisely, who battled skillfully, and who always sought the best for your people.

Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem says: When my druids and I were ambushed by renegade orcs, you challenged Warchief Garrosh to trial by combat to answer for their deaths, chieftain.

(Hamuul lights the pyre with his torch.)

Kador Cloudsong says: You fought bravely, chieftain, but Grimtotem treachery poisoned Garrosh's weapon and denied you fair combat.

Kador Cloudsong says: May your spirit know peace. Magatha and her kin were driven from the city and your worthy son carries on your legacy.

(Kador lights the pyre with his torch.)

Baine Bloodhoof says: May your spirit continue to guide us, father, as you did in life.

(Baine lights the pyre with his torch.)

(The spirits of Elders Bloodhoof, Dreamseer, Mistwalker, Runetotem, Skyseer and Stonepire appear.)

Elder Runetotem says: We know you, Cairne Bloodhoof, and your people have told us of your deeds. You are welcome at the hearth of the ancestors.

(Cairne's spirit joins the other spirits and they walk away and disappear.)

It's a very cool little quest, and is a nice sendoff to the grandfatherly leader. I understand there was something similar for Alliance players with Magni (even though he may not be truly and irreversibly "dead").

Also, wouldn't it be awesome if Cairne became one of the Elder spirits that show up during next year's Lunar Festival? If anyone deserves a special tribute like that, it's Cairne!

Yes, Cairne should definitely be honored with a place among the Ancestors... even my Nelf Druid knows of his wisdom and was saddened when news came of his death.

Wasn't children's week ages ago? You confused me because I remember doing this but don't really have a good handle on when all the holiday events are ><

Mittenz, I should have clarified in the post - yeah, Orphan's Week was WAY long ago (beginning of May). The only reason I posted this now is because someone just mentioned Cairne the other week and we got to talking about this quest. :)
